Target: All staff and volunteers in contact with vulnerable adults. (Staff Levels 1-2 in accordance with the Safeguarding Training Strategy staff levels).
Aim of the session:
To enable staff and volunteers to recognise safeguarding concerns and to know what to do when safeguarding concerns arise.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand what safeguarding is and their role in safeguarding adults
- Recognise an adult potentially in need of safeguarding and take action
- Understand the procedures for making a safeguarding alert (highlight self-neglect referrals)
- Understand dignity and respect when working with individuals
- Have knowledge of policy, procedures and legislation that supports safeguarding adults activity
Brief Biography - David Gell
David has worked within social care and health environment for 25 years. Previous posts included Senior Adult Workforce Development Manager for Birmingham’s Adult and Communities Directorate, Lead Adult Trainer for Birmingham Social Care and Health, Social Work Team Manager, Senior Practitioner and numerous posts within the provider sector.
