Who is this course for?

This training session is aimed at people who are in contact with parents and carers who may have issues involving problematic drug and alcohol use.  It is also aimed at people who work with children whose parents or carers may have problems with drugs and alcohol. Safeguarding Level 1 training must be completed before applying for a place on this training course.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • To look at recent government policy contained in "Every Child Matters" and findings from "Hidden Harm", an inquiry by the advisory council on the misuse of drugs.

  • To explore issues and the impact of problematic drug use by parents on their children.

  • To learn about assessment of parental drug use and thresholds of concern.

  • To understand how integrated working can help parents/carers who use drugs and alcohol.

  • To learn about the effects of drug and alcohol use during pregnancy.
