Target Group (Staff Levels):
Managers and practice consultants. Delegates must previously have attended Making Safeguarding Enquiries. The target audience is staff levels 2-3 (in accordance with the Dudley Safeguarding Adults Board) Safeguarding Strategy 2018-19.
Aim:
To enable practitioners, managers and practice consultants (within the staff levels 2 & 3) to effectively chair strategy meetings and case conferences
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the purpose of strategy meetings and case conferences
- Be able to effectively chair the meetings, enabling the sharing of information , analysis of risk and protective factors
- Know how to enable the service user or their advocate/family member to take part in the meeting and express their views by attendance at the meeting or other methods
- Be able to resolve areas of disagreement
- Be able to develop a SMART safeguarding plan
- Know how to record the meeting
- To take part in a strategy meeting scenario
- To acknowledge how to manage a difficult situation/scenario
- Knowing when the LA can impose another partner agency to deal with SG concern due to expertise

Previous posts included Senior Adult Workforce Development Manager for Birmingham’s Adult and Communities Directorate, Lead Adult Trainer for Birmingham Social Care and Health, Social Work Team Manager, Senior Practitioner and numerous posts within the provider sector.
