Professional workforce who work with and support young children and their families.

Course Content

• an overview and introduction to attachment relationships

• an opportunity to reflect on attachment styles and attachment behaviours

• a developing understanding of how attachment relationships affect children’s personal, social and emotional development, behaviour and learning

• reflection on some ways that adults can actively develop a strong attachment relationship with children

• some DVD footage and case study materials.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, it is expected that participants will understand: 

• how children become confident and independent by having close bonds with key people in their lives the impact of attachment on children’s sense of themselves

• what it means to be a key person or a significant person in a child’s life

• ways of developing relationships with the children and in guiding the children as they form relationships with peers and others.
