Detail:

Do you work with families of under 2’s, babies, and pregnant families?

All professionals and volunteers working in the Dudley borough are encouraged to attend one of these 3 hour sessions on supporting parents’ and infants’ emotional wellbeing and the parent- child relationship.

The parent-infant relationship is so important for the child’s long-term outcomes (adult mental wellbeing, emotional, speech and language development etc), as well as the present well-being. This links in closely with safeguarding work for all babies. Relevant for all health, family hub and social care settings, as well as nursery provision.

This training (developed by Dudley Family Nurse with the national FNP National Unit and Parent-Infant Foundation) looks at techniques to support development of secure attachment patterns, and trauma-informed practice, uses a variety of tools to bring this to life.

We look at the new Dudley PIEW pathways and development of PIEW work including Video-Interactive Guidance and the work underway across the 5 Family Hubs.

This is some feedback from health visitors, social workers, student midwives, and volunteers:

“(the session) highlighted the importance of more in depth information around relationships antenatally”

“I feel more confident, more knowledgeable, liked the games, about bonding, what baby is saying, will introduce this to families” “well presented”

“I’ll continue to use a trauma informed approach, further encouragement of parents looking for communication cues; very informative”

“Pitched well, helped to reflect on knowledge, liked videos and lots of shared resources”

“I gained more confidence in approaching challenging subjects and discussing with parents/ families”

  • Please note this training can evoke emotions of attendees, by the topic, and materials used, and you are welcome to contact the trainer/ PIEW team to discuss when the right time may be to attend
