Staff Groups

Our Training is set out into 4 Staff Groups:

Staff Group 1

For individuals who have infrequent contact with children and young people and/ or parents/ carers who may become aware of possible abuse and neglect.  This may include support staff in health and social care settings, carers, day service/drivers/transport staff, non clinical staff, HR/Business Support/ domestic and ancillary staff, health & safety officers, volunteers / charity trustees and elected members.

Staff Group 2

Those who work regularly with children, young people and adults at risk of abuse and may be asked to contribute to safeguarding processes and who may be in a position to identify concerns about abuse and neglect.  This may include housing, the police other than those in specialist roles, library assistants and homework officers, school staff other than teachers or those in designated roles, sports development officers, disability specialists, faith groups, community groups, volunteers and all health clinical staff not identified as requiring a higher level of training.

Staff Group 3

Those with particular and specialised responsibility for safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk of abuse who lead on or contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs and capacity of individuals and their parents/carers including ensuring the management and delivery of safeguarding adult and children services is effective and efficient. This may include, social care and early help staff, early years staff, school safeguarding leads, frontline managers / care provider managers, commissioning, occupational therapists, Doctors, all nurses, health visitors, midwives, sexual health staff.

Staff Group 4 - Individuals with responsibility for supervising or guiding staff in safeguarding processes such as designated or named professionals and managers of staff working at levels 1 – 3, as well as specialist police officers.
